Rolling out the green carpet on prom night
Being friendly to the environment does not mean you have to be unfriendly to fashion

Going ‘green’ is the nation’s latest trend. It is almost as if you can go green anywhere, whether it be by using a hybrid, buying bio-degradable products, or by taking some simple steps on prom night.
That’s right, prom is going green too.
It is easy to make a prom eco- friendly; it just takes some research and a little extra time. You are already going to look beautiful, so try and keep the world looking the same.
Eco- friendly substitutions
The dress
Go vintage! Borrow a classic dress from one of your relatives.
Buy a dress manufactured in the U.S. and made of organic cotton or silk and then donate it so the material is not wasted.
The corsage and boutineers
Buy locally grown, or organic flowers.
The accessories
Avoid leather purses and plastic jewelry. Instead of gluing on acrylic nails, opt for a more natural looking French manicure. Also, try to avoid hair extensions.
The ride
Limos are acceptable as long as the limo is filled to its capacity. Carpooling is an easy way to be environmentally and economically conscious.
The food
Instead of getting that thick steak (which will weigh you down on the dance floor), go for that fresh, crisp salad instead.
