The varsity baseball team lost at home to the Robinson Rams 7-4 on May 2.
“Everything seemed to go wrong,” senior pitcher and first-basemen Patrick Moore said.
The team built a 4-2 lead and kept it until the top of the seventh inning, when Robinson scored 5 unanswered runs on just two hits.
“We allowed base-runners to get on without getting hits,” senior outfielder Chris Gentile said of the Ram’s comeback. The team used three pitchers in the final two innings alone.
Gentile contributed to the team’s 4-2 sixth-inning lead with two of the team’s three stolen bases in the third through sixth innings.
“We executed well by getting down bunts and advancing runners, and also getting timely hits,” Moore said.
Gentile said the team can attribute its strong offense and defensive play to its 11-2 record.
“Our pitching is keeping us in games, and our offense is doing whatever it takes to get on base and score runs,” Gentile said.
Moore said the team needs to improve the consistency of its defensive pressure.
“We have hit really well and have had strong outings from our pitchers,” Moore said. “We need to keep the pressure on the other teams throughout the whole game, by scoring on every opportunity that we get.”
