Boys lacrosse remains undefeated

After win at district, team takes first Northern Region title

Continuing their undefeated season with a 8-6 win over the Oakton Cougars on May 21, the boys varsity lacrosse team won their first ever Northern Region tournament.

 

The team had been down by one for most of the game. But in the fourth quarter the team tied the score and subsequently scored two more goals to secure the win.

 

Previously, the team had never even advanced past the district round of the playoffs.

 

On May 9, the team advanced to region and won Chantilly’s first every boys lacrosse Concorde District championship, win a 9-7 win over the Cougars on May 9.

 

Five different players scored in the district finals game, including senior attack and midfielder Kevin O’Neill, who had a hat-trick in the first quarter and amassed four goals by the games end.

 

Senior attack Corey Aferiat, who scored three goals in the district semi-final game against the Westfield Bulldogs, scored twice in the final game.

 

Also contributing goals were senior midfielders and attacks Jake Nolan, Tyler Ott and Brandon Golden.

 

The team plays the Washington and Lee Generals in the first round of the Northern Region Tournament.

 

“This is the time to show our potential,” senior attack Joe Fratter said. “Because its either you win or go home.”
