We are not their mistakes
In a fully accredited school of nearly 3,000 students, offering 26 A.P. tests, hosting AAA VHSL sports and award-winning student organizations in a wide range of subjects, the biggest things to put Chantilly High School in the news in recent memory is that of the arrests of three teachers.
Academy Early Childhood Careers teacher Rachael Smith was arrested on Thursday, May 8 on a charge of possession of methamphetamine after police allegedly witnessed her attempting to buy the drug.
Following on the heels of the arrest of Spanish teacher Matt McGuire for allegedly attempting to solicit a minor online, news of Smith’s arrest broke over the weekend to little fanfare. The following Monday, very little was heard in the hallways regarding the incarceration of our teacher. She was the second in two years to be arrested for drugs, after Thomas Newlun, a special education teacher, was arrested in March of 2006 for giving a student marijuana.
